Love it or hate it, it’s that time of year! We want to help you be the best home barista you can be, so we have some secrets for making the famed (or dreaded) Pumpkin Spice Latte at home.
Ingredients:
- Espresso shots or 4oz coffee however you like to brew it (espresso works best for lattes, but any coffee will work)
- Milk or alternative milk
- Vanilla syrup
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Clove
- Ginger (go easy with this one)
- Pumpkin Puree (secret tip #1: no artificial pumpkin here. Real pumpkin is tastier and makes the latte wonderfully creamy.)
- Your favorite fall coffee mug
- A nice, cozy sweatshirt or blanket
Basic recipe:
Add 1-2oz vanilla syrup to your mug depending on your preferred sweetness.
Add the 4 oz coffee to your mug and stir.
Combine milk or alternative milk, 1 heaping spoonful of pumpkin puree, and a few shakes of each of the spices (measure with your heart) to your milk steaming pitcher or to a container you can heat. (That’s secret tip #2: steam the spices in the milk to get them mixed well and not just sitting in a clump on top of the milk.) Either steam these ingredients together using your espresso machine’s steam wand or heat them on the stove (remember to stir as you heat) and then froth with a milk frother.
Add the milk to your favorite mug with the coffee and syrup. Sprinkle more spices on top if you want, curl up in your sweatshirt or blanket, and enjoy!
We know the pumpkin spice latte is cliche, but why not enjoy that delicious fall flavor. If you need the coffee to add to it, try our DBD, ER’s Favorite Guatemala, or Call Your Mother. These coffees will balance well with the pumpkin.
Give it a try! We think you’ll love it!
